Fashion Show

I attended this show in 2000. The fashion show is the HIGHLIGHT of this whole event and the main reason you'll want to attend!! If you can...bring an extra family member with you to stake out good seats early while you & your friends look at the booths. (A good job for grandma or other friend or family member who doesn't like to brave the crowds in the room with the booths.) This event was very crowded last year!

The wedding dresses are from "Emelle for Susan Langford", a store on Sheridan Drive. The dresses she showed are actual designer dresses (no "fake" designer brands) and they are the most beautiful wedding dresses you are likely to find in Western New York!!! Real silks, satins, elegant designs! At this show I actually saw the wedding dress I ended up buying for my wedding. (Different topic...but I was 100% satisfied by my experience of shopping, fitting, and buying my dress from Susan Langford's store...Great personal service! Despite my difficult last minute alterations...the dress turned out just lovely!!!)

One big drawback that I remember is the LONG, BORING string of speakers trying to sell their products before the fashion show actually began! You might want to bring a book or magazine while you are waiting for the long-winded speakers to finish before the actual show.

Worthwhile Exhibits

Actually it's the same type of exhibits as at any other show...except it felt much more crowded. Some free sample of cakes. Drawings for free gifts (I never win but maybe you will?) Honestly none of the booths really stick out in my mind...I found that the rude crowds bothered me so much that we decided to go into the room with the fashion show early. (More luck for us since we got front row seats!)

My Final Misc Comments

Things you might want to Bring:
* Bottle of water
* A book or magazine (while you are waiting for the boring speakers to finish.)
* A tote bag to put the brochures in(not sure if they are provided here?)
* Sweater or coat (to help save your seat if you have to get up...but don't rely just on the sweater...you'll still need a friend to help "defend" your seats!)
* Your mother/mother-in-law/friends (Most mothers love this wedding stuff!)

Things you might NOT want to bring:
* Your fiance (He'll probably be bored and tired at this one.)

Other Notes:
* Try to dress in layers...it could get really hot with so many people there.
* Keep an eye on the time...the fashion show is the best part so you want to be early for that!
* You're supposed to register for one of the nights to attend...remember that this means afterwards you will get wedding "junk" mail...and you might even get some phone calls. After registering at one of these bridal shows, I got a phone call from someone claiming I'd won a free trip...but remember that nothing is free! I listened closely to what she was saying and she was just trying to lure me in so she could sell me something! So be careful and don't get too excited if someone calls and claims you won a prize. I believe all the REAL prizes at the show are given out at the end of the night...not over the phone!
